Best Places To See The Fall Colors Of Bar Harbor

Acadia National Park is probably one of the best places to see all of the radiant colors of fall in the Bar Harbor area. If you are a casual hiker and like a moderately strenuous hike, you may want to give Gorham Mountain a try in Acadia National Park. If you take the shorter easier trail this hike can be enjoyed by the whole family. Visit the park’s visitor center to obtain a pass and more information then drive the famous Park Loop Road. After viewing the surf at Thunder Hole, drive a little further until you find the parking lot for Gorham Mountain. You will need to allow for about 1-2 hours to climb to the summit and back for this 2-mile hike. It will be a nice gentle climb with some gorgeous rock steps. Eventually, you will be met with pink granite rock that will indicate you are almost to the peak. The hike will be invigorating and the view will be spectacular from the top. You will be able to see the foliage in all its glory as you look down upon Sand Beach, Otter Point, Beehive, Great Head and part of Cadillac Mountain. Once you have soaked in the view and are ready to head back down, simply go back the way you came up. As you finish driving around the Park Loop Road you can enjoy some of the sights you could see from atop the mountain.
